Ascension Parish Rome Pilgrimage 2025!
Dear Ascension Parish Friends:
We are excited to announce a special invitation to join our parish next October on a 2025 Jubilee Tour to the Holy City of Rome!
This once-in-a-lifetime experience will allow you to explore your faith, build community, and enjoy the beautiful city of Rome.
Father Gerald will guide you through this experience of the 2025 Jubilee year of the Catholic Church, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” offering grace and plenary indulgence. You will visit the iconic holy sites, partake in the Seven Churches Pilgrimage, explore Catacombs, and witness unique art.
Special Experiences include Papal audience, Sunday Angelus prayer, Holy Stairs, Castel Gandolfo visit, St. Peter’s Basilica visit, Mass celebration with fellow travelers, a visit to some of the sites of ancient Rome and, of course, great food and fellowship.
This travel program is being offered by Trudeau Theatrical Tours in conjunction with Globus Vacations. Doug Trudeau ran his travel company on a part-time basis while he worked as an educator for 27 years. He retired in June 2023 and now runs his company full time.
On Sunday September 15, after the 11AM Mass, Doug and Fr. Gerald will hold an Info Session in Hurley Hall to share details of the trip and answer your questions.

A detailed day-by-day itinerary is listed below. The program can accommodate 40 passengers. All are welcome to attend, and sign ups will be on a first-come first-served basis.
The program cost is expected to be approximately $2599 per person based on Double Occupancy plus airfare. This price includes six nights at a First Class hotel in central Rome, daily breakfast, and tours as detailed in the itinerary. There also will be a few optional tours that you can add to your trip if you choose. Roundtrip airfare is estimated to be $1500 per person in Economy.
To secure a spot on this trip, please complete this online reservation form. A $300 non-refundable deposit will be due at that time. Deposit must be paid by check payable to Trudeau Theatrical Tours and mailed to 25 Orchard Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Remaining balance will be due June 1, 2025 and can be paid via a credit card or check.

2025 Jubilee Trip to Rome September 26-October 3, 2025

September 26 - Day 1 - Overnight flight to Rome - dinner onboard your flight. (D)
September 27 - Day 2 - Welcome to Rome! After clearing customs, you will be transferred from the airport to the hotel. Please note, rooms will not be ready before 3PM. We will drop off the luggage and head into Rome for a city tour and a visit to the Colosseum where we will have access to the floor where the gladiators fought for Christianity. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and freshen up for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)
September 28 - Day 3 - After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin with Mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Sassia, then walk to St Peter’s Square to attend the Papal Angelus. Visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls and the Basilica of St. Sebastian Outside the Walls, named in honor of the soldier who was martyred at the time of Diocletian, followed by a tour of the nearby Catacombs. This evening you'll be free to explore the sights and sounds of Rome on your own. Dinner will be at a local restaurant of your choice. We will offer assistance in helping you find locations. You also have the option of staying at the hotel and enjoying their rooftop bar for dinner. (B)
September 29 - Day 4 - Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Castel Gandolfo. Visit the Pope’s summer residence, a unique chance to see the rooms that have been occupied by many Popes over the centuries. Enjoy the opportunity to reflect and meditate in the beautifully manicured gardens’ quietness and relaxing surroundings. In the afternoon, we will visit the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Return to your hotel. Dinner will be on your own. (B)
September 30 - Day 5 - Breakfast at the hotel and then we are off on a Day trip to Assisi, home of Italy’s patron Saint, Saint Francis. Attend Mass at St. Francis Basilica, visit the Upper and Lower Basilicas of St. Francis and other significant sites of St. Francis’s life. Dinner is on your own. (B)
October 1 - Day 6 - Breakfast at the hotel and then off to attend Papal Audience (if available) in Vatican City. In the afternoon, join a Local Guide for the visit of the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem. Complete the day with the visit of the Basilica of St. Lawrence Outside the Walls—named for St. Lawrence, a deacon of Spanish origin who was martyred in 258. This evening enjoy an optional food tour. This tour explores Italy through its food that has been an integral part of its culture. The tour is the perfect way to get to know the culture of Rome through its food, wine and history. By the end of the evening you will understand why each dish is different from region to region throughout Italy. It is not all talk, you will get a chance to try the important staples of Italian food. And of course, what is food without delicious wine?
October 2 - Day 7 -Today is dedicated to two major Papal Basilicas: the impressive Basilica of St. John Lateran and the magnificent St. Mary Major Basilica where you will have the opportunity to attend Mass. Additionally, you will experience the Holy Stairs (Scala Sancta). These 28 marble steps are traditionally ascended in a kneeling position with a prayer recital dedicated to Jesus Christ. October 3 - Day 8 - Breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport for your flight home. Your vacation ends today filled with many blessed memories (B, L)
