Family Centered Faith Formation
Our Catholic Tradition refers to the family as the “domestic church” - a holy place where parents serve as the “first preachers of the faith to their children” (Lumen Gentium, 11). Faith formation, then, doesn't apply to children alone, but to the entire family!
Ascension Parish offers a bold, family-centered faith formation program designed to serve the “domestic churches” of Maynard, Sudbury, and surrounding communities with three essential goals:
1.) To equip families to know God through engaging catechesis.
2.) To empower families to love God through vibrant liturgical worship and community gatherings.
3.) To inspire families to serve God as joyful missionary disciples prepared to evangelize and charitably serve our parish, local communities, and the world at large.
Ascension’s program is designed with the contemporary family in mind. By leveraging a digital learning platform, catechetical lessons will be available both online and in person. Catechetical content will come alive at Sunday Mass, during monthly Family Sessions, and through periodic service opportunities, all of which will help families along the path to a better life through Jesus Christ.

What time is faith formation?
Elementary school: Sundays 10-11 AM; Mondays 4-5 PM; Tuesdays 4-5 PM
Middle School: Mondays 6-7:30 PM
Confirmation Prep: Mondays 6-7:30 PM
Where is faith formation held?
Regularly scheduled Faith Formation takes place at Our Lady of Fatima, Sudbury, with the exception of Tuesday Faith Formation for K-5, which happens at St. Bridget Church, Maynard. Family sessions and special events take place in both church locations (Sudbury and Maynard).
How much does it cost?
For registrations received before August 1, the discounted price is $175 for one child, $250 for two children, and $325 for three or more children. We also ask for an additional fee for children receiving the sacrament of First Communion or Confirmation to help offset the additional administrative and retreat expenses. There are scholarships available and we never want the cost to keep anyone away from sacramental prep.

First Communion: $50 fee
Confirmation: $100 fee
